Concert with Guts Baroque Duo

Falmouth House and Legacy Memory Care at OceanView invite you to a special concert. “Master and Commander: Chamber Music on the High Seas” visits the cabin of Captain Jack Aubrey, where he and his friend Stephen Maturin play duets on violin and cello in the famous movie from the Aubrey/Maturin novels of Patrick O’Brian. The little Boccherini piece that Jack strums in the film to beckon Stephen to his cello found its way into our own life with the same purpose on tough days, an invitation to togetherness and musical healing. Let us welcome you, too, for a respite from hardship, anxiety, (or prolonged pandemic quarantine), or whatever else may be weighing you down.

Guts Baroque Duo plays Baroque music in period style on historically-accurate gut strings (hence their name), giving it the warm and intimate sound it deserves. They bring to life beautiful and unusual music from the 17th and 18th centuries. John Ott, Cellist, Viola de Gambist, is a specialist in Baroque music, and has a Master’s Degree in historical performance, with unique experience and understanding of the repertoire. Violinist Sylvia Schwartz is a passionate chamber musician in both modern and historical performance practices.
